About Is there somewhere in baton rouge i could learn sword fighting

Is there somewhere in baton rouge i could learn sword fighting?
I just want to learn how to train/fight with swords but i dont know any schools/stores that teach the way of the sword in baton rouge louisiana please no rude comments because i would rather use swords/katanas over guns any day guns in my opinion are cowardly and swords require training its really not that hard to pull a trigger even a kid could do it, but dont you think it feels better to use a weapon that you actually put work into mastering not to mention the techniques plus they are a whole lot cooler ^_^

2 :
going to agree with flawed's answer especially the parts relating to skill with a gun remember that any idiot can also use a sword and ungracefully kill an opponent with it with no actual training either... the training for proper use is another matter this is also true of a firearm any child could pull the trigger and kill someone but proper aiming dealing with the recoil handling wind affecting your bullet and even how the bullet will be effected by gravity are all very important to learning to use that type of weapon a class of using either will likely cover safely using this weapon and likely maintenance for it tdlr use is easy mastery takes time and effort this is true of nearly every thing

There is a German longsword in B.R. and a group doing German Longsword and Italian rapier in N.O.: http://www.communitywalk.com/THE-HEMA-ALLIANCE-Training-Partner-Finder?hc[]=4887636&hc[]=4892440&hc[]=4893852&hc[]=4893853&hc[]=4893854&hc[]=4893855&hc[]=4893856&hc[]=4894449#10180010630.opk8-90.24ap10 Speaking as one who has studied rapier and longsword since 1987, I completely understand and share your preference for the sword, but I'd rather have a rifle in real combat.

About I need a good immigration lawyer in Baton Rouge Louisiana

I need a good immigration lawyer in Baton Rouge Louisiana??!!?
i am trying to sponsor my husband to get his green card and i need a really good lawyer because his case is on reapeal because he was denied for his first case, before i met him it was already in progress so once it was denied he applied for an appeal and recently we got married and his appeal is still pending, i want to sponsor him and i am worried because i need a really GOOD lawyer to work this case!! thanks, oh and the court that we have to go to is in baton rouge louisiana, so the lawyer has to be from there. =] +also if you have any advice please please let me know, this is all really new to me and i would appreciate 'the heads up' on anything anyone has or is experiancing. =] okay, he came here on a work visa, stayed then after 9/11 he went to canada and applied got denied, came back to the US but he didnt notify immigration to say hey im leaving so he got picked up when he re entered the US, bonded out and applied for his green card, got denied and then applied for an appeal and here we are..yea. he is from pakistan his first case was a political assilem* not spelled right but oh well. he has been here for 10 years or so

the problem is you let all of the details you would tell a lawyer, so how could anyone give you adivce? You don't say what country he is from, is he here illegally or not, how he entered the country, why he got denied for the first time, what type of visa was he trying to get the first time, etc. But as far as looking for a lawyer, you could try avvo.com and do a search So, he was in the US legally, then left. He went to Canada, he didn't notify immigration that he went to the US so he entered without inspection (EWI). All EWI are denied any adjustment of status within the US, unless they get asylum. But you said he got denied asylum. You are supposed to apply for asylum as soon as you entered the US or it is denied automatically. I would say that it is pretty much zero chance that he will be able to ever adjust status in the US under those circumstances. He likely has a deportation order. If you try to get married when in removal procedings, you can't adjust status until you are actually removed or leave (or win the asylum appeal). So basically, your marriage would have been able to adjust him if he simply overstayed the work visa and didn't leave the US, but since he left then came back EWI, I think your only chance is to win the asylum appeal. I would save the money and not try to adjust status on the marriage until you know the outcome of that. The lawyers will just take your money, and you be out an additional 3 or 4 grand, in addition to the money to deal with the asylum. In the end you could be out 7 or 8 grand at least, and the chances are very below average that he would be able to win the case. I hope this guy is worth the thousands of dollars you will spend fighting this, and you have the money to fight it...plus you should be prepared for the possibility he will eventually be deported and banned from the country for 10 years minimum.

About Where are some good strip clubs to work at in the south

Where are some good strip clubs to work at in the south?
I live in Baton Rouge, LA, and I am looking to move soon, somewhere in the south, I am not picky, I was just wondering if anyone knew of any upscale strip clubs to work at. Thanks to all!

With the recent laws in Alabama there are not too many clubs left,so the clubs in Georgia(Cheata) and in Florida may be the best bet.
2 :
Either Florida (which gets alot of the celebrities) or South Carolina. Myrtle Beach has a few high roller clubs that the girls make really good money. I believe the Crazy Horse offers clubs in both places. As does the Doll House. Hope this helps.
3 :
There are several in the Atlanta area. On the news yesterday in face, there is a club that is expanding and currently opening a new location.

About Are you safer in a brick house or a 6 story hotel durring a tornado

Are you safer in a brick house or a 6 story hotel durring a tornado?
Just curious as severe weather is moving into my area tomorrow. (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) My friend work's at a hotel and said I could come stay there to ride out the storm, or I can go to my aunt's house, a brick home. Normally I wouldn't do this, but we have a risk of very severe storm's and a few long lived tornado's and living in a mobil home put's me at risk... Can you answer this? Ps... No basment available...

I will take the brick housse.
2 :
brick home, in the center of the house.
3 :
brickhouse
4 :
Go to the ground floor of the hotel.
5 :
~A brick house is safer.
6 :
brick house
7 :
Either way they can both be destroyed from a tornado. The only plus side is that if the power is knocked out the hotel most likely has a generator so you still would have power there but not at the house.
8 :
either a tornado will destroy both!!
9 :
I'd rather stay at the brick house. In a middle room or middle closet or storage space.
10 :
my house jk brick house
11 :
I would think the hotel would have a basement, but I guess it doesn't. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure. What is the hotel (or is it a motel?) made of? I've heard that sometimes it's safer to be in a brick house than a place with a wide roof. I'd go for the center of the brick house, in a closet, if the hotel seems at all risky to you. Maybe you could check out some tornado safety websites and see if they specify. I'm in Tennessee, and I'm worried about what's coming, too. I wonder if it'll come this far North. Stay safe!
12 :
To be honest, I think a brick house would be safer because you could get out faster than in a 6 story hotel(to a bunker nearby or somewhere).
13 :
Go to aunt's house. If tornado comes, go to the basement, away from a window. If no basement, go to innermost room without a window, such as a bathroom. And you can keep your aunt company, and comfort her.
14 :
brick house. if its lower to the ground then it will probably be safer
15 :
I would pick the 6-storey building. Reason: Mass and better structural members. Weight and density of structure. But stay away from windows, deep inside. A big tornado can easily take a brick house apart. Why no basement or shelter??? !!!
16 :
This is the time right now to plan what to do for a tornado and make sure you have a NOAA weather alert radio The radios can alert you when a tornado warning is issued at night while sleeping. A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop and you should pay close attention to the weather. If a tornado warning is issued for your area, do not panic. Go to a place of safety. Go to the lowest floor of your house like the basement. Once in the basement get under a sturdy piece of furniture or go into a bathroom in the basement. If no basement is available go in to an interior room such as a closet. If that is not available go in to an bathroom without windows. Stay away from outside walls and windows. Cover your head to protect from flying debris. Never try to out run a tornado in a car, if cought in a car and can not take no place of safety, lay down in a ditch and cover your head. Do not take cover under a over pass. Do not stay in mobile homes as they do not offer protection and can be flown as easily as cars can. For local weather info. From the National Weather Service. http://www.nws.noaa.gov Storm Prediction center (responsible for issuing severe thunderstorm and tornado watches) http://www.spc.noaa.gov Tornado info http://www.spc.noaa.gov/faq/tornado/ National severe storms laboratory. (more info) http://www.nssl.noaa.gov
17 :
i would choose the hotel
18 :
I would take the hotel. Far better rienforced construction. Several years ago I was in a hotel in Topeka. The tornado warning was broadcast to all the rooms with instructions to go down the stairs to the parking garage. Or to wait in the elevator lobby (the strongest place in any building). The tornado hit just after I left my room. All of the windows were torn out, but I and the other people in the lobby never felt a thing. So, I would take a hotel anyday.
19 :
I would hide in the ground floor elevator of the hotel. Make sure that I use something to butt the door open with incase of a power outage so I could get out.

About Can you tell me a little bit about Baton Rouge, LA

Can you tell me a little bit about Baton Rouge, LA?
HI there, Baton Rouge looks like a REAL interesting place to live and work and I am curious to know a little about the city. I've heard GREAT things about B.R. I've also heard some bad. Not too much though. I have the following questions: 1. What is B.R. like in general? Is it laid back? Friendly? Green? Clean? 2. What are the schools like? 2A. Do jobs pay well? Is the economy fairly strong? 3. Is public Transportation good? 4. What is crime like? 5. What are the neighborhoods like? 6. Is there a lot to do? Festivals, events, etc.... 7. What is the weather like? Please give me a detail if you can about the seasons in B.R. Thanks again and I appreciate your response. Daniel

I drove there a few years ago in early September and it was so very hot and humid. They had the worst Motel 6 I ever stayed in during my cross-country adventure.
2 :
BR is over populated at the moment because of Katrina. Crime is not too bad. Weather is hot with humidity during the summer. Winter...??? there isnt much of one. BR does have the mall of louisiana, which is nice. Festivals...like in all of LA...Mardi Gras. If you did move there...try to visit New Orleans...it's a little over an hour away from BR. BR maybe the capital, but New Orleans is the heart of LA.

Daniel, I've only passed through Baton rouge and I liked what I saw. From wherever you come you will eventually acclimatise to the humidity of the south. If you are planning to move there then may I suggest you do plenty of online research. I have found some links for you which will help start you off. City-Data .com is full of great statistics and useful information, including population, crime, median income, employment stats, climate etc. (And some neat photos) http://www.city-data.com/city/Baton-Rouge-Louisiana.html This next link is for the city's own webpage, it too has useful information for both the visitor and inhabitant: http://www.baton-rouge.com/BatonRouge/ The next link is to Baton Rouge MardiGras: (24th February, 2009) http://www.almostlivecam.com/ Even the Wikipedia article on the city is worthwhile reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baton_Rouge%2C_Louisiana Baton Rouge's points of interest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Points_of_Interest_of_Baton_Rouge

i've only been to baton rouge once... campus is really nice and i can say without any doubt in my mind that death valley on a saturday night in the fall is the loudest place on earth.

About Is my relationship doomed

Is my relationship doomed?
My bf and I have only been together for a few months. Today I helped him move to Baton Rouge (for work). I currently live in New Orleans...an hour and 45 min. away. He used to live 15 min. away from me. I'm sad because I was falling in love! Do you think we can make it work, or will the distance be too much for our still very new relationship. We get along great and have yet to even fight.

It will work because its not that far and you can just drive or he can drive to see you.
2 :
Yes you can make it work, if both of you are willing to make it work. See me and my wife now, well she was from Canada and i lived in IL and we made it work, for 3 years before we ended up getting married. So it will work if you both put into it.

you can start by sending your resume and cover letter to the companies that have need for your skills and experience; to the employment recruiter agencies in your area. follow up your resume/ cover letter with a call to ensure that it was received. another way to increase your chance to get a job is by working as a volunteer (make sure you don't violate your f2 status) at your local community, profit/nonprofit organization, hospital... so you can can expand your networking opportunities, help you learn new skills and gain work experience, and help you meet new friends or potential employers. good luck.

Yes. There are many jobs in New Orleans right now for all the areas you listed. You can probably find a job in Metairie or Kenner, which would reduce your commute time by quite a bit.

About How to tell your parents you're moving to different city with boyfriend

How to tell your parents you're moving to different city with boyfriend?
First off let me give you guys some background on the situation... I am 25 and my boyfriend will be 35 in September. We have been dating on and off a little over 2 years. We currently live together in the same city my parents live in and have been living together for 1 year, 4 months. When I moved out of my parents house, it was the first time I have ever moved away and lived without my parents for a long period of time. (I stayed with other family members for 1 month in 2005, after Hurricane Katrina.) I am very close to my parents. My mom and I have a much better, healthier relationship now that we don't live together. I am the only girl. My dad and I are extremely close and he still looks at me as his baby girl. I see my parents(mostly my dad) at least twice a week and email/talk/text them multiple times on most days. My parents aren't too keen on my boyfriend, which is understandable. We haven't had the most stable relationship, especially when we first dating. At the time, my boyfriend was going through some personal issues and wasn't sure what he wanted, so we broke-up a lot. We love each other and we've both changed in the last year or so, and therefore the relationship has changed in a positive way. We haven't been this happy ever in our relationship! We have talked about marriage and kids. As soon as we're able to save for an engagement ring, that's when we will buy it. Within the next year. Getting back to my question... After thinking about it over the past few days, we've decided to make the move to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where my boyfriend's business is. It's going to come as a complete shock to my family, as it was a shock to me. It wasn't something we were planning on doing until 2014 and I told my family we would eventually move. For the sanity of my boyfriend (he hates his job; he's stressed out; he's not sleeping at night; he's waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to fall asleep until 4-6 a.m.), we are making the move now. We are both quitting our jobs here in Slidell and we will be working for his company in Baton Rouge. We will both be making more money than we currently make, which will help with the engagement ring. How do you suppose I tell my parents and older brother that we are moving from Slidell to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in exactly 2 weeks from today? Yes, I know I'm 25 and I can do what I want, but I want my family to know about us moving. I want them to try to understand why I'm doing this and support me and this decision. And Please no stupid answers!

Your situation seems complex. Perhaps you & your boyfriend should get some "pre-marriage" counseling. Counseling will help you both figure out where your relationship is heading. Kind of find out if you are on the same page as him. ALL of my siblings (except for me) decided to move in with their girlfriends/ boyfriends before marriage. 2 of my siblings are still married. 2 of my siblings are separated & divorced. My brother who is divorced had a psychological "break down" that ended his marriage the 1st year he was married. That's why I am saying if your boyfriend had some personal issues. Something "new" in his life may cause him some set backs. ---------- As for your parents situation. I think if they are use to you now living with him. The moving part should be a breeze. My sister moved an hour away from us recently. We go on SKYPE or Web Camera to keep in touch. Just an idea for you & your parents.

Here's how. "Mom and dad, I'm moving to another country with my boyfriend, we're going to bang each other every day in every position possible, and we're going to videotape it and sell it, if you don't like it, f--k you". There ya go.
2 :
Well tell them that u love him an y will keep ib cobtact with them tell them the truth always and promise them other things u think will make them feel better about u moving tell them the advantages that u will have moving there and hopefully they will feel much better
3 :
Be honest in the same way you have been here, im sure your parents will understand, if they dont now they will do eventually, having the distance may make them warm to your boyfriend as they wont be seeing or hearing about any arguments etc. Wishing you and your boyfriend the best in life:)
4 :
Are you sure you will get the jobs? Well, the best thing to do is to start finding a place to live there... How to tell your family? Well, invite them for a dinner-either your place or a restaurant, doesn't mean that much, explain to them how you want to move
5 :
These are hugely tough economic times so I would base everything about the move on the fact that you need more money. Surely they will understand that. Any parents who care about their child, want what is best for them even if it means not seeing them often. Anything else is mere selfishness on their part. So just tell them. I know I am making it sound easy but I do hope you will find they want the best for you and will support your decision. Remember, if they get upset, it is selfish . I dont know how far it is but I bet it is close enough to see them on holidays and your relationship will actually thrive on not being too close, especially since they are not liking your boyfriend that much. I wish you the very best.
6 :
I would not move anywhere with a man that I was not married to! What happens if you get there, after leaving your job and your family and he decides he doesn't want a girlfriend! You are stuck jobless, homeless and without your friends and family!
